In our sessions, I draw from several therapeutic approaches to meet you where you are, with flexibility and deep respect for your unique process.
My core talk therapy training is in Psychosynthesis, a rich and integrative form of psychotherapy that views each person as more than their trauma. Rooted in clinical psychology, it draws from diverse influences: the Western approaches of psychoanalysis, gestalt techniques, Jungian dreamwork and sub-personality theory, and Eastern practices like raja yoga and non-dualism. It also integrates modern approaches such as attachment theory, somatic awareness, guided imagery, and expressive art. It’s a soulful psychology, interested not only in what hurts from the past and present, but is also supportive of what’s trying to emerge – your purpose and meaning in life, and the very human desire for joy, playfulness, connection and belonging.
I also draw on my training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), an evidence-based model which helps us to listen with care to the many parts within: the protectors, the critics, the hidden or exiled aspects of self – and offer them space, compassion, and integration. For those familiar with attachment theory, it is often described as a way to build secure attachment within yourself. IFS is widely used to support healing from complex trauma, shame, anxiety, people-pleasing, and inner criticism.
Alongside this, we may use somatic practices, inviting the body’s wisdom to guide and ground the work. These practices draw from somatic psychology, polyvagal theory, mindfulness, and trauma-informed movement. Through breathwork, gentle body awareness, grounding, and guided exploration, somatic work helps you reconnect with your body as a safe and wise ally in the healing process.
Some days in sessions, our focus might begin by exploring an old belief or pattern that helped to keep you safe in the past. Other days, we might tune into a felt sense in your body, follow a dream image, or get to know a part of you that’s been carrying pain for years. There’s no rush – this is a space for your healing to unfold naturally in its own rhythm.
